Advertising Tired Clichés

And the latest winner of the Let’s Bash Cable for Fun and Profit Award is Haggar. Yes, the pants people. In an “episode” of their “Making Things Right” campaign, two very average Joes make everything better by taking their frustration out on a hapless, clueless, tardy cable guy by stranding him on the roof. (Wait, if he’s on the roof, wouldn’t that make him a satellite guy?) Hapless cable guy: “I’m freakin’ out here, all right? Just bring the ladder.” Very average Joe #1: “Oh, we will, sometime between the hours of 7 and 11. Probably closer to 12:30.” Oh, we’re in stitches here. Stitches like those on uncomfortable poly-blend sans-a-belt slacks.

It seems to me we're being a bit hypocritical here. Though not as direct, one of our current commercials takes a jab at the lawncare guy. Historically speaking, we're no angels when it come to marketing either. I say get over and move on.

Before becoming a FSR for Cox, I had no idea how many techs worked in my city and how many service call's they had each day. One of my favorite things to ask while on a service call at a customer's house is how long they had to wait before I showed up. "About two days" is the longest I've ever heard and sometime's they even say that they just placed the call that morning.
Before working for Cox, I never had any problems with my cable services so I was completely unaware that the response time was so short. I'm glad that I work for a company that put's as much emphasis on current customers as it does on potential customers.
